Job Summary

Paveway Africa Limited, on behalf of a client, is looking for truck mechanics who will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of various types of trucks used in transportation and logistics. Your role will involve diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that trucks are in optimal working condition to meet safety standards and operational requirements.

Truck Mechanics Responsibilities

● Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, and brake adjustments. Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform necessary repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and other truck components.
● Inspections: Perform thorough inspections to identify faults, malfunctions, and potential problems in trucks. Conduct testing and assessment of vehicle systems to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
● Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in trucks. Analyze problems and implement effective solutions to restore functionality.
● Parts Replacement: Replace or repair faulty parts and components including engines, transmissions, steering systems, brakes, and suspension systems. Ensure that replacement parts meet manufacturer specifications and quality standards.
● Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory. Document all services performed on trucks and update maintenance logs for compliance and future reference.
● Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing repairs and maintenance tasks. Ensure that trucks meet safety regulations and standards set by regulatory authorities.
● Collaboration: Coordinate with other team members, supervisors, and logistics personnel to prioritize repairs and maintenance schedules. Communicate effectively regarding repair timelines and any potential service delays.
● Continuous Learning: Stay updated with advancements in truck technology, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in truck maintenance and repair.

Truck Mechanics Requirements

● Proven experience as a truck mechanic or similar role, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
● Knowledge of various truck systems, including diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and computerized diagnostics.
● Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and specialized equipment for truck repairs.
● Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in diagnosing and troubleshooting truck issues.
● Understanding of safety protocols and compliance standards related to truck maintenance and repairs.
● Ability to work independently and in a team, with good communication skills.
● Certification or vocational training in automotive mechanics or a related field is advantageous.
