Agronomist

Job Summary

Paveway Africa on behalf of our client is looking for an Agronomist in the agriculture industry, you will play a crucial role in optimizing crop production and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices. Your responsibilities will include conducting research, analyzing data, and providing recommendations to farmers to enhance their yield, quality, and overall farm productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assess soil quality, nutrient levels, and water availability to determine optimal conditions for crop growth.
• To develop and implement crop management plans, including planting schedules, irrigation strategies, and pest control measures.
• Monitor crop health and identify diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies, offering timely solutions to mitigate risks.
• To Conduct research trials to evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, pesticides, and farming techniques.
• Collaborate with research institutions and industry partners to contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable farming practices.
• To interpret data to identify trends, make informed decisions, and provide actionable recommendations to farmers.
• Work closely with farmers to understand their goals, challenges, and specific agricultural needs.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate farmers on modern agricultural techniques.
• Stay informed about local and national agricultural regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure that farming practices comply with environmental and safety standards.
• To Prepare detailed reports on agronomic assessments, trial results, and recommended actions.
• Present findings to farmers, management, and stakeholders clearly and understandably.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or related field.
• 3+ Experience in agronomic research, crop management, and farm consulting.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of precision agriculture technologies and modern farming practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
