Payroll Clerk

Job Summary:

Paveway Africa Limited, On behalf of a client we are seeking a Payroll Clerk who will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and processing of payroll for company employees. This role involves data entry, verification, and the maintenance of payroll records. The Payroll Clerk ensures that employees are paid accurately and on time while complying with company policies and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately enter and update employee information, including hours worked, deductions, and other payroll-related data.
• Maintain and update payroll records, including employee files, tax forms, and timesheets.
• To handle confidential payroll information with discretion and professionalism.
• To generate and distribute payroll-related reports to management as needed.
• Assist in preparing end-of-year financial statements, including W-2s and other tax documents.
• Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee payroll issues.
• Assist in the preparation and filing of payroll taxes.
• To ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, and discrepancies.
• To provide support to HR and finance teams as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing or related role.
• Familiarity with payroll software.
• Strong numerical and data entry skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Good organizational and time-management abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
• Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations is an advantage.
